The United States Declaration of Independence is a statement adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, which announced that the thirteen American colonies then at war with Great Britain were now independent states, and thus no longer a part of the British Empire. Written primarily by Thomas Jefferson, the Declaration is a formal explanation of why Congress had voted on July 2 to declare independence from Great Britain, more than a year after the outbreak of the American Revolutionary War. The birthday of the United States of AmericaIndependence Day—is celebrated on July 4, the day the wording of the Declaration was approved by Congress.
After finalizing the text on July 4, Congress issued the Declaration of Independence in several forms. It was initially published as a printed broadside that was widely distributed and read to the public. The most famous version of the Declaration, a signed copy that is usually regarded as the Declaration of Independence, is on display at the National Archives in Washington, D.C. Although the wording of the Declaration was approved on July 4, the date of its signing has been disputed. Most historians have concluded that it was signed nearly a month after its adoption, on August 2, 1776, and not on July 4 as is commonly believed.
The sources and interpretation of the Declaration have been the subject of much scholarly inquiry. The Declaration justified the independence of the United States by listing colonial grievances against King George III, and by asserting certain Natural and legal rights, including a right of revolution. Having served its original purpose in announcing independence, the text of the Declaration was initially ignored after the American Revolution. Its stature grew over the years, particularly the second sentence, a sweeping statement of human rights:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
This sentence has been called "one of the best-known sentences in the English language"[2] and "the most potent and consequential words in American history".[3] The passage has often been used to promote the rights of marginalized groups, and came to represent for many people a moral standard for which the United States should strive. This view was greatly influenced by Abraham Lincoln, who considered the Declaration to be the foundation of his political philosophy,[4] and promoted the idea that the Declaration is a statement of principles through which the United States Constitution should be interpreted.


There are so many events planned in our towns and cities across America. Because our great heros before our time fought for our country's independence and earned it, we have the priviledge of freedoms today we all can enjoy. We sometimes take for granted many of our priviledges that are not extended to citizens of other countries. We must remember to be thankful for our freedom to be, and freedom to make our choices that dictate our own values. Freedom to go to church and worship our Lord and praise God openly in worship, prayers, and messages from our Pastor Leaders. We have freedom today for women to take on those pastoral roles and share the good message that God has inspired and mentored to teach all the world.

In America as in other Countries, women are rising and taking on more leader roles, becoming CEO's and Presidents of more companies, participating in important roles in government leadership.  This year particularly, we have so many great women leaders paving the way for our daughters to follow and lead  the legacy for their children and future generations.

It is a great day when you can go out for a boat ride on the bay, and know we live in a country where you can feel safe.

It is with priviledge to wake up in the morning, and know each day is a new day to try again to achieve one step closer to reaching your objectives and goals and living the reality of reaching them.

It is a great day to begin our day and wear the clothes and we choose to wear with freedom of choice.

It is a great day in our country.  Women can own property, own thier own cars and drive them with freedom to meet their transportation needs.  While in other countries, women are fighting for these simple rights just so they can go to school, go to work, take care of their families.

It is a great day to have the freedom to use the internet for our social network, for our businesses, and for obtaining information in real time.

It is a great morning, I will go to church, maybe head for the beach or a redwoods park and enjoy time with me and our Lord. I will enjoy a concert tonight at the church I am attending at Faith Center in Eureka located at 1032  Bay Street, Eureka for a wonderful evening of praise and worship I have truly missed from my Bay Area church at Jubilee.  I will enjoy JJ Heller, a female song artist annointing my soul tonight. Thanking the Lord for my beautiful daughters, one in heaven and one studying in college, and precious to my heart and my soul. God is participating.

Tomorrow, I will enjoy a early boat ride on the Bay in Humboldt Bay Harbor. I had my first experience since I have been living and working in Humboldt County last week and I enjoyed it so much I signed up for the fourth of July open space for me! I also signed up to enjoy the next two hour cruise on the Bay.  The Humboldt Baykeeper offers boating on the Humboldt Bay sharing history from volunteer docents and all of this is for no cost.  How many events can you enjoy elsewhere for complimentary entertainment recreation and learn to. There is great value in doing this, they will get me excited, and I will enjoy and learn, and then become a member to contribute to help support their great blessing to the Humboldt County community and their tourists. Tomorrow on the Fourth of July in Humboldt County after my morning boat ride I may head for clam beach and if the tide is still low and out I may try to seek some clams.  I was talking with the gentleman who I purchased my 4x4 Jeep Grand Cherokee which I value and enjoy as my Humboldt County real estate vehicle. His brother was also stopping in to share the clams he brought from Clam beach.  They were big and beautiful rectangular shaped clams.  He took them home and made a great clam chowder. I have since talked to my friend again, and he said it was great clam chowder and the second day it was even more flavorful as the juices and spices settled in the pot all seasoned to perfection. I attempted shortly after that to do the same and adventured to the beach to find high tide.

I am longing to go again and experience the thrill of finding beautiful clams to bring home to my brother and dad for a great home cooked clam chowder. I am considering this for part of my fourth of July celebration and we will see what God inspires me to in his participation.

Then also in Eureka the Eureka annual forth of July festival features vendors booths, music on two stages, a rock wall and mechanical bull provided by the North Coast Adventure Centers. A petting zoo, fire trucks, classic cars and motorcycles.  the festival will b held from 10 am to 5 pm on Second Street in Old Town Eureka.  This year they have a carnival on the board walk near the new plaza, " the Johnston Amusement Carival".  Fireworks begin at 10pm. For more information, call 442-9054.  Last year I took myself for a walk to the board on Fourth of July and met a buyer customer that let me earn their business and I was able to help this precious couple buy a home across from the ocean and soon after they were married! After enjoying the vendors last year, I enjoyed my favorite restaurant, Bayfront Restaurant...a wonderful sushi restaurant on the Humboldt Harbor Bay Boardwalk.  I stayed until fireworks and enjoyed with the community that came for the evenings fireworks show and then walked home.  Last years Fourth of July was memorable and rewarding.  Bayfront Restaurant, 707.443.7489 openh everyday from 11 am - 9:30 pm, located at One F Street, eureka, CA  95501.

Last Sunday after my boat ride, I went to church, and because I had no open house scheduled, I was able to take advantage of another wonderful priviledge to kayak on the Humboldt Bay. I enjoyed kayaking just me and my Lord on the Bay in sun shine and warmth on the bay in calm waters, also a first for me in Humboldt County.  I am hooked. Pacific Outfitters of Arcata, Eureka, and Ukiah offer Kayak Demo's this summer on the Humboldt Bay near the Adorni Center every third weekend during the summer, free.  Saturday and Sunday on each third weekend of the month I can kayak on the Bay for no cost!  Incredible opportunity, and so much fun. Pacific Outfitters 707.822.0321 and   707.443.6328

They provide me the Demo lesson and guidance I need, I don a life vest and slip carefully into a kayak of my choice.  They have many different types to experience, and all look like so much fun.  Last Sunday, I chose the kayak that does not fill up with water in the event I rolled over and fell into the ocean.  I really enjoyed that afternoon. I kayaked all the way to the Samoa exit bridge and back again on the harbor side of the Marina across from where I began at the Adorni Center. For a moment I just sit in the water and closed my eyes and thank my Lord for how nice did that feel.

They have paddle boards too, one little boy looked like Tom Saywer as he stood proud on top of this paddle board and gently paddled and manuvered his paddle board on the Bay. A woman and her son were enjoying peddle boats.  I remember doing that at the Lake Elizabeth for $3 for the whole day as a young girl growing up with my brother and my friends. I will try this next time one day and kayak the next. I will get to excercise my legs and my abs in different ways both days and my soul and mind will have a equally benefiting stimulating experience to.

Arcata features for Fourth of July celebrations, a Fourth of July Jubilee Festival on the Arcata Plaza that begins at 10 am to 4 pm. They are warning that the Kid's zone is open 10 am to 4 pm and that children must be supervised accompanied by an adult guardian/ parent at all times.

The Mischief Lab is a recycled art conclave, using air, fire and propane.  They say:  No drugs, alcohol, outside food, snacks, or animals will be allowed into the Arcata Ballpark performance and please keep your fireworks at home.

Fortuna's Fourth of July Celebrations feature the Scotia Band performing a program of patriotic music preceding Fortuna's Independence Day Fireworks in Newburg park on July 3.  the band will follow Twingo McCallan in the evening's lineup of events, performing from 8 to 9:30 pm under the direction of its new conductor, Jill Petricca.  The voice of Scotia Band Pat Foran will be the narrator.  Concurrent with Scotia Band's performance ar baseball game, a barbeque, and a pie eating contest. After the last notes are played, Fortuna's Fireworks extravaganza begins after dark. Admission is free. Parking is free on Rohnerville Road just past Newburg park in the Mora Field.  They are encouraging you to bring chairs, or blanket or sit in the bleachers.  Children must be accompanied by an adult, and have a parent or guardian sign a liability waiver in exchange for a $3 wristband that allows unlimited activities from 5:30 to 8:30 pm.  For more information call 707.725.9261  Pets and alcohol are not allowed.

Ferndale's July 2,3,from 8 am to 3 pm. The lost Coast Kennel Club Show takes place at the Humboldt County Fair Grounds. July 3rd, at 3pm there is the Brass band Concert at the Fern Cottage in the gaden. Reservations for the eureka Symphony Orchestra and Fern Cottage Foundation benefit can be made by calling 786-4835.  Independence day events start at 10 am with the Ferndale Volunteer Fire Department offers free fire engine rides to kids of all ages. At noon, there is a parade on Main Street sponsored by Ferndale chamber of Commerce and the Ferndale Rep Ferndale Rotary Picnic at Town Green after the Parade.  Come 3 pm, there is the Ferndale Rep Celebrate America Musical Revue featuring the Scotia Band and the Chameleon Singers.  Fireworks are sponsored by Bear River Casino at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds.

Miranda's Independence celebration with the Miranda Volunteer Fire Department asking residents to bring their entire family and enjoy a day of fun in the sun in Miranda on the Avenue of the Giants.  Events start at noon with music, food and children's events and more, including the famous riding lawn mower race. A raffle will be held throughout the day. Anyone wanting to sell items is invited.  A $20 donation is requested.  Bring your own tanle and chairs. Garberville is holding their annual Garberville/Redway Area Chamber of Commerce Family Fourth of July Picnic and Fireworks Display.  This event will take place again at the Benbow Lake State Recreation Area on Monday. Gates open at 8 am, activities and booths start at 3 pm.  fire works light up the sky around 10pm. Those wishing to make a donation toward the fireworks cost can call Dee Way at 923-02613 or just send your donation to P.O. Box 445, Garberville, CA 95542. Ray's in Garberville will be hosting a benefit barbecue today.  Free parking will be available utside the event. Inside the Benbow Lake State Recreation Airea parking will be sold prior to the event. For those looking to avoid the sometimes tricky parking situation a $2 shuttle will be available from Garberville and Redway, two shuttles will be making return trups after the show. Children's activities organized by the Lehman family will offer the little ones fun throughout the day.  Live music will be playing in the evening. Admission is only 47 for adults and Kids 2-11 are $3 and under 2 if free.
