Humboldt Botanical Gardens Foundation-College of the Redwoods

Last Sunday I had the pleasure of joining a friend to attend the annual Humboldt Botanical Gardens Foundation Awards and Barbeque at the College of the Redwoods. I took a lot of pictures which I have not uploaded yet, but will soon. They are beautiful and sharing them will be a delight. The botanical gardens are really showing gorgeous colors this season, Some of the plantings they did last year are maturing a bit. The improvements they have made re-directing water away from the green house they built are very clever and beautiful to look at. Running water flows along side a terraced walkway to a memory plaza and the flows from a waterfall of pipes onto colorful rocks in a rock garden. It is just beautiful. The trees have blossoms and the heather garden is showing off many different colorful varieties of heather. You must visit this peaceful and beautiful garden. Take a walk through the natural paths that lead to another special garden of trees planted last year honoring one of their beloved members. Keep walking and tour the natural landscape all the way to the top of the hill to find a very large and unique labyrinth to walk, meditate and pray. There is only one sister labyrinth like it in another European country. I really enjoy participating with the garden clubs up here in Humboldt County. I have made some really nice friends and enjoy touring beautiful gardens. And of course, I also appreciate and enjoy a great garden at home too. A peaceful retreat right at home.

There will be a Humboldt Botanical Gardens Foundation Plant Sale and Nursery Grand Opening on Saturday, April 30th and Saturday, May 7th from 10 am to 2 pm.  Location is College of the Redwoods - North Entrance.
